![]() ![]() To get the strengths of this piano in the low registers, mostly I played in low & mid registers. ![]() In the sample video, I played "Falling slowly" one of the famous soundtracks in the 2000s. IMHO, this piano may be suitable for pop and new age genres where the high dynamic is not required normally.Ībout the main volume value, it is loud enough by default so that I used my Waves L1 Ultramaximizer just a little compared to other sample libraries I have used. Especially dynamic lacks a lot in the high register. Its low register sounds so deep and rich on the other hand mid & high registers sound a bit muggy and weak. It doesn't sound realistic honestly but its warmth would be attractive if you don't care about the realism of the piano. But the reason I use this piano VST is that it is quite light to use without any concerns regarding CPU and RAM and SSD usage. It sounds decent but not outstanding compared to other famous Steinway D sample libraries in the market now. In this post, I want to focus on the first piano which sampled Steinway Model D. You will notice it right away when you play them by yourself. But the other three are just a waste of money honestly in terms of sound and GUI. I paid around 140 USD without any discount. Sit down at a beautiful Concert Grand Model D captured in the brilliant Guillaume Tell sound stage in Paris. First of all, it is a bundle VST of 5 kinds of famous acoustic pianos.ġ. ![]() Today I want to review one of the old piano VSTs in market, UVI Grand Piano Collection series. 5.6 (Volume 8 / Sound 5 / Body 5 / Response 6 / Dynamic 4) I've tried Pianoteq over and over, and every time someone drops a new suggestion or an update of it here, I try it immediately hoping this time will be the one, but I just cannot get the sounds I am looking for out of it.*Price & Size : 149 USD, 5GB (UVI Grand Piano Collection) I tend to play slow, emotive passages that rely on the character of the instrument. I should mention, although I have to admit I rate playability incredibly high, the instrument has to still sound real to me. My real dream would be for UVI to re-record Model D and expand upon it greatly, because the tone itself is rather phenomenal, something I immediately gel with. Does anyone have experience with both/all three? That said, I think I would kick myself pretty hard if I got it and the Normal preparation (just the basic piano sound) doesn't feel close to the flexibility of specifically Modern U or Ravenscroft. I really like the idea of Augmented Piano a lot, and a lot of the sounds I hear out of it are pretty killer. UVI is currently running a 30% off sale till the end of this weekend, and I've been eyeing both the Key Suite Acoustic and Augmented Piano. So far all three pianos I have on UVI Workstation feel right (Modern U, Model D, Ravenscroft) more often than not, even if I don't always love their sound or their specific limitations. I own/have owned a bunch of others that I just can't really come to love (Xperimenta Due, NI Noire, VSL Bosendorfer Upright, VSL D-274, Addictive Keys Studio Grand) and it mostly comes down to the way it feels to play or the sound that comes back at me as I play it. Aware of its limited 4 velocity layers, I had kinda wrote it off as being inadequate for what I would want out of a piano for a long time, but I've tried too many and I kept coming back to specifically VI Labs Modern U as playing exactly how I felt a piano should. I picked up UVI Model D a few weeks ago for a ridiculously good deal recently from someone here. ![]()
